Electric Motor Configuration and Output Ratings

The 2026 Kia EV9 uses a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor system across all trims. Rear-wheel drive Light and Light Long Range models rely on a single rear-mounted motor, while Wind, Land, and GT-Line™ trims incorporate a dual-motor all-wheel drive layout.

The Light RWD trim produces 215 horsepower at 4,400 to 9,000 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. of torque from 0 to 4,200 rpm. The Light Long Range RWD trim produces 201 horsepower at 4,200 to 8,200 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. of torque from 0 to 4,000 rpm. AWD trims combine a 189.5 horsepower front motor with a 189.5 horsepower rear motor, generating a total system output of 379 horsepower. Total torque reaches 443 lb.-ft. with Feature-on-Demand deactivated and up to 516 lb.-ft. with Feature-on-Demand activated, depending on configuration.

Front motor torque in AWD trims measures 184.44 lb.-ft. at 0 to 2,200 rpm with FoD off and 258 lb.-ft. at 0 to 3,800 rpm with FoD on. Battery power output is rated at 182 kW for the 76.1 kWh pack and 318 kW for the 99.8 kWh pack. Cell-level energy density measures 670 Wh per liter across all trims. Pack-level energy density measures 200.7 Wh per liter for the 76.1 kWh battery and 263.3 Wh per liter for the 99.8 kWh battery.

Battery volume is 379 liters for both battery sizes. The 76.1 kWh pack weighs 1,021.4 pounds, while the 99.8 kWh pack weighs 1,248.9 pounds. A 12-volt battery rated at 60 Ah supports auxiliary systems. This battery structure integrates within the floor of the vehicle to maintain a low center of gravity and structural rigidity across the 122-inch wheelbase.

Charging Architecture and Electrical Output

The 2026 Kia EV9 is equipped with a 10.9 kW onboard charger across all trims. The low-voltage DC-DC converter provides a maximum output of 2.4 kW. Maximum power density is rated at 1.4 kW per liter.

Using a dual-level ICCB at 240 volts and 30 amps, AC charging time for the 76.1 kWh battery is 11 hours and 15 minutes. For the 99.8 kWh battery, charging time is 14 hours and 35 minutes. With an 11 kW EVSE operating at 240 volts and 48 amps, charging time decreases to 6 hours and 45 minutes for the 76.1 kWh battery and 8 hours and 45 minutes for the 99.8 kWh battery.

DC fast charging with a 50 kW CCS adapter requires 63 minutes for the Light trim and 83 minutes for trims equipped with the 99.8 kWh battery. With a 350 kW EVSE limited to 310 amps, charging time decreases to 20 minutes for the Light trim and 24 minutes for the larger battery trims. Peak system power reaches 235 kW in the Light trim and 210 kW in other trims.

Charge time based on Kia Corporation testing on GT-Line trim with 800v 350kW DC fast charger and approximately 72 degrees Fahrenheit battery temperature.
